It’s the little things that throw you

I am constantly finding little things that just get me. They are the little things in life that you just don’t notice until you find they are different, then suddenly you become very aware of them. Here are some examples.

I had to get some folders to file my job applications and the inevitable rejection letters (all very complimentary but….). So I thought I would get a normal (two ring) folder and a (two ring) hole punch. The type of thing that is extremely common in Oz and the UK. Not here, I discovered you can get three ring, or if you really want it to be secure, five ring folders, no two ring. I eventually succumbed and had to by a large three ring hole punch.

The other thing also is that the paper size is different. They do not use A4 here it is slightly smaller.

I know of no other country on earth that uses fractions and decimals together. It is usually one or the other, but not here. Petrol for example. The price might be $3.55 ¾. Go figure!

With the prevalence of law suites I suppose this next one is not surprising. You know how easy it is to pop a pill out of one of those blister packs in Australia or the UK? Not so here in the US. It requires much more strength and so far I have managed to break the pill every time I had to push so hard. As for child proof pill bottle lids……

I visited a pet store recently. I say pet store as it was huge. Not only that, you could take your pet with you. There were stations around the shop where you could get materials to clear up any mess, including what was called ‘whoops’ spray to clean the floor with.

However, the next bit, well all I can say is, only in America.

There was an isle where you could by clothes for your pet, including bikinis for your dog. However, if you little dog or cat did not like walking, why not get a stroller for them. They were like baby strollers but with netting so the animal could see out but not actually get out. If you do not want to be separated from you pet, why not use a carry strap, just like those you see where a parent is carry their baby strapped to their chest!!!!! They had pictures of people walking about with their dogs strapped in these things, just like a baby.

As I said, only in America!
